Training
The IAID officers were given the opportunity to attend various training sessions organised by local and foreign accounting and financial institutions.
Local Training
The IAID sends participants to a number of seminars organised by the Malta Institute of Accountants; during 2007 these included ‘Quality Assurance Workshop’, ‘IFRS Refresher Course’ and ‘IFRS Update – Part 2, 5th ACCA Audit Workshop’.
Being members of the Internal Audit Forum Malta, IAID provides an opportunity to its officers to participate in seminars organised by this Forum. In 2007 IAID officers participated in the seminar entitled ‘Advocating Internal Auditing’.
Officers are also sent to training seminars organised by the ISACA Malta Chapter and the Staff Development Organisation.
Foreign Training
IAID Officers are many a time invited to participate in training, seminars and conferences organised by foreign institutions such as:
- The Institute of Public Administration in Ireland which delivers courses on Structural and Cohesion Funds;
- OLAF, the European Anti-Fraud Office, which delivers training on anti-fraud matters.
Delivery of training sessions by IAID officers
The IAID was invited to deliver training sessions in two seminars on EU and bilateral country funding. These were:
- ‘Capacity Building for Structural Funds Stakeholders - Induction Training’ organised by the Planning and Priorities Coordination Division;
- ‘Training Programme for the EEA and Norwegian Financial Mechanisms’ organized by the National Focal Point.
On its own initiative, the IAID organised a seminar for prospective new intakes which applied to join the IAID. The IAID officers explained the roles and functions of the IAID.
